Located at 329 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10023, Sote Coffee Roasters operates as a coffee shop serving New York in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and New York follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Such a lovely little coffee spot on the Upper West Side! The coffee was excellent, and you can tell they really care about quality. I also loved the cozy, charming décor it creates such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, when I stopped by there weren’t any seats available, but that wasn’t a problem. I ordered my coffee to go and walked over to Central Park, which is just two blocks away. It turned out to be the perfect way to enjoy a fantastic cup of coffee. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood!

Sote Coffee Roasters is a true haven for coffee lovers. As soon as you walk in, you’re met with the rich, comforting aroma of freshly roasted beans and a sleek, modern interior that still manages to feel warm and inviting. The minimalist design highlights what matters most the coffee and the staff’s passion for their craft is clear from the first pour to the last sip. I ordered a pour-over and a cardamom bun, and both were phenomenal. The coffee was perfectly extracted, smooth, and full of nuanced flavor notes, while the pastry was subtly spiced and wonderfully fresh. It’s the kind of place where every detail from bean sourcing to music playlist feels curated with intention. If you're someone who appreciates slow coffee done right, Sote is absolutely worth the stop.

I rarely leave reviews, but I had to for this place! I’ve been on a coffee kick lately (I'm a matcha person), trying out cafes wherever I go. I was on the west side for ballet and looked up local coffee spots nearby. I usually drink my coffee black (americano or cold brew), and I like my coffee dark (no to sour/acidic coffee lol). But when I’m exploring new cafes, I like to treat myself to special lattes. I can’t tell you how many $8-9 drinks I’ve wasted at popular spots only to end up not liking them. Even when I want something a little sweet or flavored, I still want to actually taste the coffee, and this roaster nailed that balance. I wish Astoria had something like this! I’d buy one daily if they open one here! I’ll definitely be back to grab their beans so I can remake it at home. I got the iced maple cinnamon latte, and I’m usually not even a maple person, but this one hit different. Strong coffee flavor with just a hint of maple! Right amount of sweetness without masking the beans. I’m trying the cortado or cappuccino next!

Good cafe in the UWS with some seating. They roast their own beans. The espresso is where this place really shines — deep & rich milk chocolatey flavor. More than the flavor, the finish of the espresso was the best part: it’s like when you hold a piece of chocolate in your mouth and it melts over your tongue. Silky smooth and lingering.

A very cozy, welcoming spot with a genuinely homey feel. Small tables, comfortable chairs, and even a little couch that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The coffee is done properly, smooth and well balanced, and the pastries are fresh and delicious. The service is genuinely friendly and attentive without hovering, which is rarer than it should be. This place feels personal and relaxed, like a neighborhood café that actually cares. Easy five stars.
